memories... all alone in the moonlight...has the chu-chu-chu chuuuurvaaa... whatever....
hahaha... wala lang.... i just remember how fun it was being a kid. It was all fun & games, your parents would scold you if you don't take your afternoon naps and if you stay up late at night, your yaya would scold you if you don't finish your food, your teacher would scold you if you don't study your lessons.... but now, what you'd give just to have a few minutes of sleep in the morning... what you'd give just to eat chicken (with the oh so crispy skin!) without worrying about your diet or cholesterol level.... what you'd give just to... wait, nope I don't miss my grade school teacher (hehe!) but I do miss school... to be with your friends everyday... now, it would take:
a.) birthdays
b.) xmas
c.) weddings
d.) baptism/ bday of kids
e.) home-coming
just to see your friends again. There would always be a need for a celebration/ occassion so just you could get together with them, with all their hectic schedules blah blah blah.
I've made a list of the things in my childhood that I really miss. You may or may not be familiar with these but hey, its just me. its my list & you can't do anything about it! Hahaha!
1.) Barbie. Yup, I miss playing with my precious barbie dolls. Can you imagine that at 6th grade, I was still playing house with my barbie dolls, while everyone was busy stalking their crushes at school! Haha... well, at least, uhmmm... yeah ok, I have a total of 8 dolls. My 1st ever barbie was a gift from my ninong bobby when I was like 5 or 6. All others were given to me etiher by my mom, other ninangs & ninongs & other titas. When I was 10, I was literally begging my mom for a Barbie doll house on xmas, which costs Php3k back then. Yup, and thinking back, I'm glad my mom didn't buy me one coz I would never buy Phoenix a toy that costs more than Php2k, which he will eventually outgrow. The following xmas, I asked my mom for a Swatch watch, which she happily bought for me.
2.) Chikadees. Those corn chips where you'd have a free toy inside. Its not that I enjoy eating the corn chips, but love seeing a new free toy inside. Sometimes youd get plastic insects, the slimy thing that sticks in your skin, small toy soldiers...A free toy that comes with any junk food already makes my day back then.
3.) Batibot. Yup, I miss kuya Bodjie (dunno the spelling!), ate Sienna, Pong pagong, Kiko Matsing, Ate Irma daldal and the rest of the gang. I'd occasionally watch Sesame street as well, but nothing beats my loyalty to Batibot!
4.) Cabbage patch kids. I had one back then, and I named it "Baldy" because guess what?!? Its bald! Hahaha! But later on, when I was in 1st year high school and we needed a doll as props for our play, I had to find it because it was the closest doll I had to a baby. It smelled of old, crumpled money, so it was renamed "baby pera" coz it really smells like money. All of my boyong friends are her ninangs.
5.) Mac & Me/ Little Mermaid. These two movies were my ol' time faves. I can remember crying to Mac & Me, when Mac was destroyed by the badass humans who hated him, and he was saying goodbye to the kid. Waaaaaa!!! It was the first movie to make me cry, but certainly not the last (because up to now, I cry even at comedies...yup, weird me!). And the 2nd movie which made me cry was the Little Mermaid, when Ariel was saying goodbye to her dad because she'll be living happily ever after with her prince in land. I was thinking back then, "I'd never leave my papsy... and mommy...and arby (?)". But then promises are made to be broken hehe, no I didn't leave my family, I just got married and moved a few streets away from them.
Well, these are some of the things I missed the most about my childhood...there are more but I can't place them all here because... It would literally take me a whole day. Well, thats about all the nostalgia I can have for now... maybe next time I'll be posting about the things I missed the most in high school... now that would be a blast to reminisce! Til then!
